Mayan Riviera Developers Invite Proposal by HCG Design Team Puerto de Chile, Quintana Roo, Mexico / Stuart, Florida - November, 2009 - In October of 2009, HCG was contacted by Grupo AGM of Mexico City, Mexico about planning and designing their new resort site in the Mayan Rivera. Grupo representatives invited HCG, along with two other internationally recognized firms, to visit the property located in Playa del Carmen along the eastern coast of Mexico. The site is located on the southeastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, 75 kms south of the City of Cancun between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Quintana Roo. The property is approximately 500 acres (197 hectares) in size with approximately 1.8 kilometers of beach front. It is mostly untouched and covered with natural jungles, coastal plants along the beach, mangroves, and naturally occurring above- and underground channels known as "Cenotes" in Spanish. Numerous ancient Mayan archaeological ruins are on site. "By creatively merging the opportunities that the site offers with sound economics and innovative planning, HCG welcomes the task of designing a successful and sustainable resort community on the Mayan Riviera," said HCG Principal Michael Houston. The client's intention is to create a mixed-use community that will feature a resort site as its main use with supporting residential and commercial uses. A sustainable community design will provide additional amenities such as entertainment, shopping and sources of employment for residents and visitors alike. Possible themes discussed for the site were an eco-tourist destination or perhaps an all inclusive lifestyle resort. After the initial site visit and client contact, HCG was requested to prepare a proposal of services that will cover the initial Conceptual and Workshop stage with the Preliminary Master planning stage and Final Master planning stages to follow.
