Don Cuozzo of HCG is Appointed as a Member of the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida The Commission’s Task Is to Help the Citizens and Leaders of Florida to Prepare for a Continued Increase in Population and to Craft a Plan that Meets This Challenge. Formed by the Florida Legislature in 2005, the Century Commission is tasked with envisioning Florida’s future by looking out 25 and 50 years, making recommendations to the Governor and Legislature regarding how they should address the impacts of population growth, and establishing a place where the "best community-building ideas" can be studied and shared for the benefit of all Floridians. The Commission is comprised of 15 members, with 5 each appointed by the Governor, the Speaker of the Florida House and the President of the Florida Senate. Don Cuozzo, Principal of HCG, was recently appointed to the Commission by Senator Ken Pruitt and will serve a four year term. “It is truly a privilege and an honor to serve the residents of Florida as a member of the Commission,” said Cuozzo. “I look forward to working with the other Commission members to help position Florida for future growth and development.” By law, the Century Commission must:
Donald Cuozzo received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Technology in 1979 from the Florida Institute of Technology. Don co-founded Houston Cuozzo Group (HCG) in November of 1993 to provide planning, design, and government oriented strategic planning services for private and public sector clients in South Florida. Don has over twenty years experience in the planning, execution, and implementation of many varied projects throughout the region and has worked in nearly all facets of community and project development. Don began his career in the public sector with the Martin County Growth Management Department before leaving to work with a number of regional and national development companies as a project coordinator. As part of his development coordinator role, he was instrumental in the 2 successful approval of the Martin Downs DRI amendment and the acquisition and development of a number of large residential communities in Palm Beach and Martin County. He was also a principal with a large Palm Beach County based engineering firm and has extensive experience in the area of project engineering, coordination, environmental permitting, governmental approvals and project management. He has been an expert witness in federal, state and local jurisdictions. Recently he has provided project coordination services to a number of national firms in the telecommunications industry throughout southeast and southwest Florida. Don has served on the boards for the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, Martin County Business Development Board, Treasure Coast Builders Association, and The Board of Zoning Adjustment.
